Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival celebrates 30th year with extravagant culinary experiences
North Lake Tahoe, Calif./Nev. (August 12, 2015) —
Foodies flock to Northstar California Resort for the 30th annual Lake Tahoe Autumn Food and Wine Festival, presented by the North Lake Tahoe Resort Association, September 11-13 for a weekend filled with wine, spirit, and craft beer pairings, mixology classes, craft beer tastings and, of course, plenty of award-winning wine served mountainside.
From winemaker luncheons to picturesque fall dinners, below is a sample schedule of events sure to have something for every palate:
Art of Mixology
Limited to 30 attendees, this intimate group heads to The Backyard Bar & BBQ at the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe Friday, September 11 at 4 p.m. for an entertaining lesson in using freshly cut herbs and infused liquor to create refreshing cocktails for the late summer season. Tickets for this event are $40 and advance purchase is required.
Farm to Tahoe Dinner
Escape on a gondola ride to the beautiful Zephyr Lodge for a multi-coursed dinner featuring fresh, sustainable and locally sourced produce. Northstar California’s Chef culinary team prepares a delicious dining experience complete with beer, wine, light beverages and live music Friday, September 11 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tickets are $80 and advance purchase is required.
Hands-On Mozzarella Cheese Making with Chef Lara Ritchie of Nothing to It Culinary Center, Reno
In an effort to focus on all things cheese, Chef Lara Ritchie teaches 25 guests to make the white, easily melted cheese loved around the world Saturday, September 12 at 11 a.m. This hands-on class is great for families to learn and taste personal cheese creations. Tickets are $25 and appropriate for ages 9 and up. Advance purchase is recommended as spaces fill quickly.
Petra Winemaker Luncheon
Wine Connoisseur and Petra Winery owner Kali Kopley hosts a multi-course luncheon expertly paired with award-winning wines Saturday, September 12 at 12p.m. Diners sit back and let the experts guide the culinary experience, highlighting the complexities and tastes of each pairing. Tickets for this event are $60 and advance purchase is recommended, as limited seating is available.
Vertical Mountainside Tasting with Truckee River Winery
Wine lovers literally elevate taste buds Saturday, September 12 at 1:30pm with a wine tasting experience starting in the Village at Northstar, traveling on the Big Springs Gondola to Mid-Mountain for a second tasting with light snacks, and culminating with a glass of wine on the Zephyr Lodge deck overlooking Sawtooth Ridge. Tickets for this alpine wine tasting event are $45 and open to attendees 21 and over.
Culinary Competition and Grand Tasting
Guests gather to experience the culinary talents of the top chefs in the region paired with premium wines, spirits and brews in a formally judged food and wine pairing competition Sunday, September 13 at 1 p.m. in the Village at Northstar. A panel of food and wine experts judge each creation and then offer the pairings out for ticket holders to enjoy. Ticket holders also have access to tasting additional wineries pouring fine varietals and vintages at this event. Advance tickets can be purchased for $75 and day-of tickets are $95.
