New Nonstop Flights to Reno-Tahoe International Airport
Just a 30 to 55-minute drive from the Reno-Tahoe International Airport to North Lake Tahoe, new nonstop flights include Denver and Austin via Frontier Airlines ($39-$49 one way); and nonstop from Chicago via United Airlines. Additional nonstop routes include:

Capital Improvements
Tahoe City and Kings Beach have invested in new roundabouts, pedestrian walkways and beautification elements to improve traffic flow, safety and recreation. Nearby in Crystal Bay, the iconic Cal Neva (formerly owned by Frank Sinatra) was purchased by Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison. Development of the property is yet to be announced. The Biltmore Casino is undergoing a massive redevelopment into a multi-use retail, wellness and residential community, called Boulder Bay. The new Tahoe City Lodge, a projected 118-room hotel with a rooftop bar and restaurant, which will be Tahoe City’s first new hotel in 50 years was approved in January 2018. In summer 2017, the Ritz-Carlton Lake Tahoe launched the Lake Club, making it the only luxury property with both mountain and lake access. Development of the Nevada Stateline-to-Stateline Bikeway North Demonstration Project (SR 28 Shared-Use Path) will finish construction this summer. The project will improve safety, mobility, water quality, and recreational access from Incline Village to Sand Harbor. The Granlibakken Resort completed construction on its new Soul Shelter meditation space, gym and a meditation and reflection garden.
Winter investments for the 2018-19 season are underway. Alterra Mountain Company, which encompasses 12 mountain resorts across North America, including Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows, will invest $555 million toward capital improvements and technology, chair lifts and gondolas, snowmaking, food and beverage, and guest experiences. In partnership with Liberty Utilities, Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows committed to powering the resort with 100 percent renewable energy by as early as December 2018. In addition, the proposal of a Tesla battery storage system will provide energy reliability to Olympic Valley residential and commercial customers. In 2017-18, Northstar California committed to a zero net operating footprint by 2030, including zero net emissions, zero waste to landfill and zero net operating impact to forests and habitat. Sugar Bowl announced an $8 million snowmaking system upgrade and expansion for the 2018-19 season, including a 50 percent increase in water pumping capacity, reduced energy consumption and carbon emissions, and added snowmaking coverage on Mt. Disney.
Overall, the renovations, improvements and additions throughout North Lake Tahoe have upleveled its reputation among national and international travelers, while maintaining its boutique authenticity.
Programs
Lone Eagle Grille Partners With Niman Ranch – Lone Eagle Grille at Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe Resort, Spa and Casino announced a partnership with Niman Ranch, a national leader in sustainable agriculture and humane livestock practices. Through June 30, 2018, Lone Eagle Grille will donate $1 from each order of its seasonal Niman Ranch menu items to the Niman Ranch Next Generation Scholarship Fund. The fund is designed to raise awareness around the loss of traditional farming and ranching practices, and to ultimately help maintain agriculture opportunities by providing funding for college students.
Events
Mother’s Day Brunch, May 13: Granlibakken Tahoe hosts its annual Mother’s Day brunch with complimentary mimosas, flowers and live music. The event is free to lodging guests, and open to the public for an additional fee of $45 for adults and $25 for children 12 and under.
Made in Tahoe Festival, May 26-27: Made in Tahoe celebrates all things local, hosted in The Village at Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows. Discover local artisans, culinarians, organizations and entertainers, Saturday, 11 a.m. – 7 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Restorative Arts and Yoga Festival June 1-3: Nestled in 74-acres of forest, this unique event will treat attendees to over 12 workshops in therapeutics, yoga, guided meditation and metaphysical teachings by local Tahoe practitioners, instructors and professionals.

Tahoe City Golf Course celebrates 100 years
Tahoe City Golf Course, the oldest course at Lake Tahoe, celebrates its centennial anniversary with a season of events, promotions and activities for adults and children. Designed by female pro golfer May “Queenie” Dunn-Webb in 1918, ladies can enjoy a 9-hole round of golf every Thursday for $19.18.
Lake Club, The Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe
The new Lake Club, which opened summer 2017, provides exclusive lake access for guests of the Ritz-Carlton, Lake Tahoe. The multi-level facility offers intimate dining, leisure, and water activities with the luxury of a 5-star resort.
The Wild Society adds new tour options
The Wild Society debuts new light-up kayaks for night tours, in addition to sunset picnic tours, yoga, and paddleboarding.
Tahoe Treetop Adventure adds new courses
Tahoe Treetop Adventure at the Granlibakken Resort now has nine courses for team building, corporate events and family excursions.
Tahoe Flow Arts Studio, aerial fabrics
North Lake Tahoe welcomes a six-week introduction to aerial fabrics series with Kelly Smiley, Wednesdays at Truckee Dance Factory, April 18 – May 23, 7:30- 9 p.m. Cost: $150.
Tahoe Adventure Company, spring mountain bike program and multi-day guide backcountry hiking
Tahoe Adventure Company (TAC) offers a bike rental program and daily mountain bike tours at Tahoe Cross Country in Tahoe City. Featuring a fleet of new Specialized mountain bikes, guests can utilize the vast network of single-track trails and dirt roads. TAC also offers guided backpacking tours along the Pacific Crest Trail, available for 2 to 8 days. Excursions follow trail system along high alpine lakes, old growth conifers and colorful wildflowers at 8,000-10,000 feet in elevation.
